Who are we?
North of south studio is an architecture and interior design firm established in New York City driven by authenticity and design integrity.
Our approach is characterized by comprehensive research, creativity, adaptability, and a focus on delivering exceptional design solutions that transcend boundaries and create meaningful experiences.
The collaborative essence of our studio makes each project a unique expression of the shared exploration between our clients and our team.
We add poetry to spaces that enhance the human experience while respecting the context and its history. Whether at home, in the office, or just at a coffee shop we create memories in all the spaces we touch.
Our name, NOS [north of south studio] goes back to
our roots. We are from “the south”, but also from the
north; Colombia is the north of the south american
continent. Fernanda is currently based in New York
City, while Catalina is established in Bogotá.
Team
Maria Fernanda Pizarro
Principal and co-founder of NOS, Fernanda leads the team with a deep passion for design, and a global perspective based on her years of work in Bogotá, São Paulo, Copenhagen and New York City. She oversees and orchestrates the studio’s architects and interior designers in their work from project inception to completion.
Her background in architecture forms her methodology, where she develops dynamic three-dimensional solutions that enrich the interior design practice of the studio.
Fernanda holds a diploma in architecture from the University of Los Andes, and a postgraduate degree in Adaptive Reuse from the Rhode Island School of Design - RISD.
Catalina Pizarro
Catalina, principal and co-founder of NOS.
After 10 years of experience working at renowned firms in Bogotá, she has been exposed to a diverse range of projects for the residential, educational and retail sectors.
Driven by innovative solutions, guided by functionality, and grounded in technical excellence, her projects exude a sense of architectural precision, complemented by her deep understanding of materials and finishes.
A sophisticated designer, Catalina is involved in all stages of programming and space planning and works closely with our clients to develop concept and design solutions that integrate their vision into architecture.
Cesar Joven
Strongly committed to the technical and construction aspects, Cesar is an architect and project manager passionate about processes and innovative work technologies.
He is proficient in formulation, control and execution of public and private projects, and he actively seeks new tools to enhance the productivity of the studio.
